Main criteria (primary applicant):
- has been sponsored by an employer to fill a nominated position
- has required skills, qualifications and/or experience relevant to the nominated position*
- has at least vocational English (IELTS 5 points each band) unless exempted**
- meets any mandatory licensing, registration or professional membership requirements (if applicable)
- has no substantial criminal record
- good health
*some applicants may be required to have their skills assessed
**holders of a passport from Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom or the United States
of America are not required to provide evidence of English skills; applicants who have been offered annual base salary of
at least $88,410 are also exempted
Main criteria (employer):
- actively and lawfully operates a business in Australia (applies to Australian businesses only)
- follows all relevant Australian laws and has a satisfactory record of meeting immigration law (applies to Australian
businesses only)
- has a current training strategy for existing and future Australian employees or in case of recently established business,
has a training plan (applies to Australian businesses only)
- has a vacancy to fill

- full-time
- with working conditions that are no less favourable than provided for under the relevant Australian legislation and
awards
- in an occupation from list of occupations
- with market annual salary, not less than $49,330
Visa application charges:
$405 - sponsorship application
$80 - nomination application
$305 - visa application ($350 - from 1 January 2012)
